The short version

This website is an independent advertising and quote-request service. It is paid by the floor-coating provider it sends requests to. It is not a contractor and performs no work.

That is the whole arrangement, stated up front rather than buried.

How it works

You submit an estimate request.
It is passed to one independent local floor-coating provider covering Pennington, Lawrence and Custer Counties.
They contact you to arrange an on-site look and provide an estimate.
Any agreement is between you and them.

How this site is compensated

The provider pays the site operator for the arrangement that sends requests to them.

What that means for you:

It does not add a fee to your project. You pay the provider for the work, on their terms.
It does mean this site has a commercial interest in you submitting a request and in the provider receiving it. That is the disclosure.
It does not mean the provider was selected as the best available for your project. They are the business in a commercial arrangement with this site. There may be other capable providers in the Black Hills who are not.

That last point is the one most referral sites leave out. It is the most important one for you.

What "one provider" means

Your request goes to a single provider. It is not sold, and it is not broadcast to several contractors who then race to call you first.

This is a deliberate choice — being contacted repeatedly by companies you did not choose is a genuinely unpleasant experience — but you should understand the trade-off: you are receiving one estimate, not a competitive set.

Getting more than one estimate is generally sound practice for work of this size. Nothing here prevents you contacting other contractors directly, and doing so is reasonable. The quote checklist is written to be useful for comparing any estimates, including ones from businesses with no connection to this site.

What is not claimed about the provider

This site does not currently publish statements about the provider's licensing, insurance, years in business, certifications, customer reviews or quality of work.

Such claims are only publishable with specific, verifiable evidence about the specific business. Generic reassurance — "vetted", "fully insured", "trusted local expert" — costs nothing to write and, without verification, means nothing.

Verify licensing and insurance yourself, directly with the provider and the relevant authority, before signing anything or paying a deposit.

What is not on this site, and why

No customer reviews or testimonials. A quote-request service has no customers of its own to quote, and publishing another business's reviews as its own would be a misrepresentation.
No project gallery. No projects have been performed by this site. Another company's photographs will not be presented as its work. If a provider supplies their own photographs with explicit permission, they will be published as theirs and attributed.
No team or staff page. There are no installers to introduce.
No manufacturer certifications. None are held.
No physical address or local business listing. There is no office, shop or showroom here, and claiming one — or creating a business listing at an address that is not a real place of business — would be false.

Independence of the information

The educational content on this site is written to be accurate and useful, with material factual claims attributed to identified sources and their limitations recorded.

But be appropriately sceptical: this site is paid when you submit a request, and that is a commercial interest. It is disclosed so you can weigh what you read here accordingly.

Two places where that interest was deliberately not followed:

No local price is published, although a specific figure would likely convert better, because there is no defensible source for one.
No unqualified winter-availability claim is made, although it would be convenient, because availability depends on the product, the slab condition and the provider's schedule.
